Dramas. Dramas. Dramas.

it's Friday night again. for most people, it will be the beginning of their long-awaited weekend, for them to slack, rest & relax. for me and my classmates, well..it's the start of a long-terrible-boring-weekend-of-lectures.

well, i just reached home not too long ago from class, had dinner at about 10pm..i asked my mom to cook for me, cause i'm planning to save money, but my stomach was grumbling during dinner break, so i gotta get a small burger...so, ended up NOT saving money AND double dinner. :(

well, today...was quite a dramatic day. (well, for the past few weeks...lots of dramas had been happening in college, in my CLP class specifically).

ok, i think it was about more or less a month ago, my college had announced the day of our Convocation, the price and other details.

Each of us must pay RM180 to entitle us to attend the ceremony and the dinner thereafter. Any of our family members who wishes to attend must pay RM180 which is inclusive of both event. RM180 is just the admission ticket.

Each of us then have to pay RM388 for the rental of the robes (add another RM200 as deposit), and it's inclusive of several photos taken during the ceremony and a DVD of the whole event. If u want it with frames, u have to top up additional RM180 (normal black-brownish frames) or RM250 (gold frames with UOL logo carved). If we wish to have a family potrait taken, it will cost another RM130 inclusive of one photo frame and several pictures.

Well, after adding everything up....i have to admit that it's quite expensive. and..many other students thought so too. and last week, someone started a petition...something about they are against the overpricing of the Convocation event and the paper was circulating around class. well, honestly...i dont think it will be successful, because before the petition started..some other students had made payment to the photographer firm (including myself) but then again, i'm contractually bound to attend this convocation...so i wont be foolish to take any part in such petition as it may jeopardise my current status (long story). so all i can do is sit back and watch the fireworks.

Then today, the chairperson of our convocation came to our class...spent 30mins (which was taken from our lectures) to "discuss" with us the overprice issue. well, honestly....it's not really discussing..it's more like making a statement that everything had already been decided.

well, i can't blame her action. it's now 6th Nov, convo is scheduled on the 8th Dec. roughly a month.... it's not a short period, but i really dont think that there is sufficient time to engage a new auditorium or a new photographer. even if those were done, the outcome may not be very good, as everything will be done in a rush. and not to mention that it will be quite unfair for students who had made payment already (like me...hell, i paid RM2768 for this whole convo thing!)

well, some students got really aggressive...by demanding WHY we can't rent robes from other source etc.etc.etc. sigh.

well, there's a possibility that the college is actually collecting some commission out of this convo ceremony...but even if they did...i really don't think it's very wrong. for goodness sake, our fees is very, extremely reasonable. my tuition fees (exclude exams fees/UOL fees) for the entire degree course is less than RM20,000. Adding our exam fees and UOL fees, it will probably reach more or less RM50,000.

other University have the privilige of charging lesser or even free for their convocation ceremony, but...how much are they charging their students? hell..Taylor's a level is 3 times more than my a level fees in my college.

and for our current course...about 10 books were given F.O.C...provided we paid our tuition fees early.

sigh.

and..there are other dramas happening in college as well. i wonder how many more dramas are lined up for the year.
